Stem cell therapy is still an investigational modality of treatment. The approach using embryonic stem cells carry the problems of identifying appropriate cell lineages, possibility of stem cell differentiation into lines other than the intended type, and potential for neoplasia (cancer). Another limitation of stem cell therapy is the immunogenicity of cell.
