The three heart day diet is one of the most popular fad diets circulatng in the web today. It is variously known as the ‘3 day diet’, ‘3 day american heart association diet’, ‘Cleveland clinic 3 day diet’. It has been around since the 1980’s. People adopt this diet expecting rapid weight loss. But most of them regain most of the weight that they lose pretty soon.

3 day diet plan

The followers are asked to adhere to the diet plan strictly or else the desired weight loss will not be attained. After adopting this diet for 3 days, one should return to our normal diet pattern for 4-5 days before attempting this again. This is to prevent our body from going into a fat storing starvation phase. Basically this is a low calorie diet. There is no magic ingredient which causes weight loss. Most of the weight loss is fluid which will return soon after you return to your normal diet plan.

The Recipe

The Three day diet review

This is a fad diet which is difficult to sustain in the long term. It can only be adopted by yo-yo dieters who want to lose weight very fast. If this is adopted for more than a few days, the body goes into fat conservation phase and then it becomes very difficult to lose weight. The diet does not provide the necessary nutirents and can result in malnourishment

Final verdict – Not Recommended

Scientists have found that vitamin D may play a crucial role in preventing heart disease.

A team of scientists, at the Mid America Heart Institute, Kansas; led by Dr. James H. O’Keefe and found that vitamin D plays an important role in heart health.

The group studied adults and analysed the relation between their intake of vitamin D and their risk for heart disease. The results were alarming. Those who took decreased amounts of vitmin D had higher risk for heart disease, other cardiac events and stroke. The researchers also found that most adults dont get enough vitamin D as part of their daily diet.

The study concluded that increasing the intake of vitamin D can help to significantly reduce the risk of heart disease in humans.

Sacred Heart Diet is a soup based 7 day diet for rapid weight loss. It claims that you can lose 10 pounds in one week (Please read the review at the end of the page). Vegetables are the major ingredient of the sacred heart diet soup, which forms the core of this diet program.

Recipe – Ingredients

2 large tins of any stewed tomato
2 cans of beans
Few teaspoons of beef broth
2 pounds fresh carrots
Lots of chopped mushrooms
1 green pepper
One bunch of chopped celery
Half head of cabbage
Chicken noodle soup mix
3 Green onions

Soup recipe -Instructions

Add necessary salt, pepper and hot sauce

Make the vegetables into small pieces

Take adequate water in a pan and add all the ingredients

Boil well for 10 minutes

Reduce the heat and continue to cook till the veggies are just right

7 day diet plan

Day 1 consists of eating fruits (other than bananas) and soup. Watermelon and watercress are better as they have very little calories and form part of a the fat burning diet.

Day 2 Eat as much veggies as you want. The green leafy vegetables are great. Also you can have lots of soup. Keep away from fruits for today. At dinner you can have baked potato and butter.

Day 3 You can eat lots of fruits, vegetables and soup. No baked potato today. By this time you could have lost a few pounds. Drink lots of water.

Day 4 is composed of bananas and milk: Stick to the soup diet and you can also eat bananas and drink milk. Bananas and milk have lots of calories and carbohydrates, but your body needs the potassium and carbohydrates.

Day 5 is mainly beef and tomatoes. You can take upto 1 pound of beef and a about 6 fresh tomatoes today. Have the soup at least once.

Day 6 is again vegetables and beef. Have green leafy veggies but keep away from baked potato. Make sure that your diet includes at least one serving of soup.

Day 7 Eat brown rice, fruit juice without sugar and lots of vegetables till your tummy is full.

Will this 7 day diet actually work?

This diet is again one of the fad diets that promise you that you can lose ten pounds in a week. Most of the weight lost is water and you will gain this back when you return to a normal diet. This diet is never sustainable in the long term as you cannot continue for long eating such a diet. The American Heart Association also considers this as a fad diet. Don’t go after the diets which claim to have a secret fat burning ingredient as they are all phoney. The real secret of weight loss is to eat right and to work out. Eat a healthy balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Keep away from junk food. About exercise, do cardio – they are useful for weight loss. The American heart association recommends at least 40 minutes of cardio exercise on most days of the week.
