Orthostatic hypotension (fall in blood pressure on standing up) is an adverse effect common to diuretics, angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB), sympatholytics – different types of antihypertensive drugs. Combining ACE inhibitors or ARBs with diuretics is more prone for this. This adverse effect is more likely to occur in those who are hypovolemic.
